    The necessity of growing better food on Earth – as well as away from it – is becoming more of a concern as our climate changes and the potential for space exploration expands. St. Louis-based company, MARSfarm has developed countertop greenhouse that can be programmed to replicate specific climate variables while cameras and sensors collect data throughout the growing process. Hoping to inspire the next generation of agriculture and tech work forces, MARSfarm founders made sure that their product was affordable – and accessible – for educators and students. They also developed materials for Growing Beyond Earth: a NASA citizen science program that enables student to replicate growing strategies used in the International Space Station.
